A couple who died in a devastating car crash in Barnsley have been named as Peter and Margaret Deeley.

The tragic incident occurred the Barugh Green crossroad junction at 2pm, on Saturday March 23. It is believed that a white Suzuki was hit by a grey Range Rover, alongside other vehicles.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, Peter, 75 and Margaret, 85, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Their family has asked that their privacy be respected while they grieve the loss of their loved ones.

A 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and was released on police bail. South Yorkshire Police is keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam of the vehicles involved or any information that can assist with their inquiry.
