Arsenal know that they’ll have to find another gear to kick into this season if they’re to keep pace with Manchester City in the Premier League title race again.

Mikel Arteta has overseen two wins and a draw to open the new season, with their only hiccup coming in the form of a draw at home to ten-man Fulham.

The Spaniard won this award four times last campaign, adding to his two picked up from the 2021/22 season.

But just as was the case at the end of last season, Man City are marginally ahead of Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola’s charges won all three of their matches in August, seeing off Burnley, Newcastle United and Sheffield United.

Surprisingly, Guardiola did not win this award at any point last season and has not claimed it at all since December 2021 – ex-Wolves boss Bruno Lage and former Burnley caretaker Mike Jackson have won it more recently than him.

Amid the chaos of Liverpool‘s transfer window, the Reds have quietly opened the season in fine form.

The highlight of Jurgen Klopp’s August was undoubtedly Liverpool’s surprise comeback win at Newcastle. Having trailed for much of the game while down to ten men, Darwin Nunez bagged a late brace to secure a memorable victory.

David Moyes was a strong favourite to be the first Premier League manager to lose their job this season. How the tables have turned.

West Ham United opened the season with a draw at Bournemouth before earning superb 3-1 wins against Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion.

In his esteemed career, Moyes has been named as the Premier League Manager of the Month on ten occasions, but his last victory came in March 2013 while at Everton.
