South African middleweight Dricus Du Plessis has a great way of always getting under his opponents’ skin through his trash talk. The way he does this is different than what other fighters such as Colby Covington or Conor McGregor do it. Dricus will find that soft spot and use it as his opponent’s weakness. That’s exactly what he did when he faced off against Sean Strickland for the first time ahead of their fight at UFC 297. Dricus wen’t straight for the yugular by mentioning Sean’s past child abuse trauma with his father and Stricklan did not like it one bit. It lal reached a high point where Strickland started punching Dricus ringside at UFC 296.

Sean Strickland in a moment of vulnerability as he talks about his childhood trauma with Theo VonTwitter

Strickland makes ominous threat to Du Plessis

Leading up to this fight, Sean Strickland opened up during an episode of comedian Theo Von’s podcast. Before it aired, the Middleweight champ himself did let his audience know it was coming and felt ashamed of how he broke down completely. Clearly, this is a touchy subject for him and a past traume he hasn’t been able to overcome. With that in mind, Strickland recently made a concerning threat to Duy Plessis. Those who know how mentally unstable Sean Strickland truly is will know he does not make empty threats. Although Dricus already showed respect to Strickland in a recent interview, we won’t know what will happen until the day comes.

This is what Sean Strickland spoke on his Youtube channel about Du Plessis potentially talking about his past childhood trauma again: “I actually sent him a message. Dude, listen, Dricus: We’re going to go try to murder each other, but if you bring that sh*t up again, I will f*cking stab you. Press conference, weigh-in … he was cool about it. “I’m not telling you I don’t want to fight you. Dricus. I’m not saying you’re not a good fighter. I’m just saying that’s a line that, when crossed, it transcends fighting. If I go to Canada and you bring that up, guess what? I’m going to go to jail, they’re going to deport me, and we spent eight weeks of training for no f*cking reason.”
