Shohei Ohtani‘s next MLB destination has been the dominant story in world baseball for around a year now and it seems as though it could be set to come to a conclusion as he nears choosing his next ball park.
It could be one of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs or Toronto Blue Jays according to other executives from the league as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan, with the Boston Red Sox seemingly out of the running now.
The pitching and hitting ace was forecast for a $500m contract prior to an injury that means he cannot throw a ball until 2025 at the earliest, thus apparently knocking his value down a bit.
Ohtani is expected to make his decision shortly after the winter meetings on Monday, December 4 in Nashville, Tennessee and some rumors report that the Japanese player has always known where he actually wanted to go.

Nez Balelo, agent for the World Baseball Classic winner, has kept everything incredibly controlled and secretive in a bid to remain in the MVP’s good books with a huge money deal on the horizon.
This includes shuffling executives in to meet the player by using different carparks, different waiting rooms and different elevators so that nobody would be aware of who Ohtani has been courting in the offseason. However, it was not possible to keep them apart.

“I got a kick out of that, because all the teams stayed at the same hotel, at this Intercontinental,” one executive said to “The Athletic”. “It’s like this air of secrecy, then I roll into the hotel, and see (two other executives).”
“They were trying to control the whole thing,” he continued. “There was this effort made to make it this clandestine – nobody knows who’s here. And then we all had dinner at the same restaurant.”
Ohtani, being a premium product for any franchise and their 10-year plan, holds all of the cards and thus can make whatever demands he wants and that has including this level of privacy about the decision he wants to make.
It’s also been a factor in his playing career with the Los Angeles Angels as he was said to have heavily controlled his media appearances, even during games, with reporter questions being a variable unable to be managed by his team.
