Two minutes into Saturday night’s contest between the San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves, a bat descended onto the Frost Bank Center court, leading to the home team’s mascot to pull off quite the heroics.
Victor Wembanyama had just made a 3-pointer when the bat flew into his vision. He was so impressed by the Spurs mascot that “The Coyote” received the rookie’s seal of approval.
The Coyote caught the bat with a net after several failed attempts. Jeremy Sochan and Wembanyama celebrated with the mascot.
Not the first time this happens
This was not the first time the mascot used its net to catch a bat. He previously caught two bats. Former Spurs star Manu Ginobili also swatted one with his hand in November 2009.
San Antonio stunned Minnesota 113-112 for their 10th win of the season. Wembanyama finished the contest with 23 points and had a wild move on Rudy Gobert.
