Strictly's Amy Dowden says ‘always here for you’ as Shirley Ballas shares biopsy update

Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden has rushed to support Shirley Ballas as she shared some worrying health news.

The head judge took to her Instagram Stories and updated her followers after undergoing a biopsy, following a routine mammogram.

She explained: “Urging all women do not miss your mammogram. I went for mine. Ended up going for a second one and a biopsy. Local anaesthetic biopsy done. Now waiting for results.”

She he added: “@Amy_Dowden you ran through my mind the importance of not putting it off. Go and get tested, plus self-breast check regularly.”

Amy later took to her own Instagram account and responded: “Always here for you! Important message here all from @shirleyballas.”

As Strictly fans know, Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year after she found a lump in her breast in April. The professional dancer later announced the news after undergoing a mastectomy and later bravely documented going through chemotherapy treatment.

She has since been told the positive news that there was no evidence of disease but she will not receive the “all clear” for five years due to her type of cancer.

Amy has since been raising awareness for breast cancer and encouraging her fans to check their breasts. It comes as she recently shared a fresh ‘first’ while on a getaway with her famous friends.

Amy took to social media and updated her fans on her recent trip to The Lake by Yoo with Giovanna Fletcher, Kelsey Parker and Candice Brown.

During her time away, Amy revealed that she had her first haircut since shaving off her hair. Sharing a picture with her hairdresser to her Instagram Stories, she wrote: “Going to have my first haircut! This time @Karlamorley promises not to cry.”

Amy first shaved off her hair last year amid her cancer treatment. At the time, while she was having chemotherapy, she invited her family and friends to cut pieces of her hair.
