Paramedics said they treated a teenager in a serious condition, with wounds to his face, neck, and chest following an alleged stabbing.

Police said they had taken several people into custody following the alleged assault.

The teenager was rushed in a serious condition to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Police said about 8am on Sunday, charges were yet to be laid, and an investigation remained ongoing.

The incident comes a year after the passing of Jack’s Law, which allows officers to scan people using hand-held metal detectors to find knives or other weapons on people. Earlier this week, police reported they had seized more than 500 weapons off the streets in the year under the new police powers.
