Tom Brady has made another new investment after purchasing a stake in the Las Vegas Raiders recently.

Brady, who amassed enormous wealth during his NFL career, is the newest team owner in the E1 World Championship, a boat-racing competition.

The former New England Patriots quarterback has become the latest celebrity owner, following tennis legend Rafael Nadal, football legend Didier Drogba and Formula 1 driver Sergio Perez.

Brady is the fifth to enter a team overall, with the opening race set to take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, next year.

European races are also said to be on the calendar, while a USA race is penciled in for the following year, 2025.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion said in a statement: “E1 combines several things I love – speed, intensity, being on the water, intense competition, and innovative leaders.

“I’m excited to join Rafael Nadal, Didier Drogba, and Sergio Perez, all great athletes with the same desire to compete at the highest level and work together to help make the boating industry more sustainable, create incredible events, and especially to win.

“My message to our competition – be prepared for second place because we are aiming for the top.”

The organizers of the competition are said to be working to secure more celebrity team owners over the coming weeks.

The objective is for the boats involved to be environmentally responsible.

CEO Rodi Basso added: “Tom is very passionate about the planned Acceleration Festivals at our races, which will showcase start-ups and developments in the clean tech industries everywhere we go.

“Tom is so aligned with our principles and vision for sport and impact.”

Brady’s sports investments

The venture into boating follows Brady‘s investment into NFL franchise the Las Vegas Raiders.

After making that investment, the soon-to-be Fox Sports analyst said: “I’ll be playing a very passive role. This is something that I’m interested in doing for the rest of my life.

“This is not something that I’m into it for a year or two years. You know, I’ve got a lot of responsibility with my Fox job, which I take very seriously.

“But if I’m looking over the course of my life, to have the opportunity to be involved in the NFL is a dream come true.”
