Haaland and Sancho had enjoyed a prolific 18 months together at Dortmund, before the latter left the club for Manchester United in a £73million move in 2021.

The Man City star reacted to a photo of Sancho in a Dortmund shirt with the word ‘beautiful’.

More from Jadon Sancho after he completed his return to Dortmund on loan.

Pointedly, Sancho has said he ‘can’t wait to play with a smile’ in a possible dig at Man United.

‘When I came into the dressing-room today, it felt like coming home,’ Sancho said.

‘I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge.

‘I can’t wait to see my team-mates again, go out on the pitch, play football with a smile on my face, prepare goals, score goals and help qualify for the Champions League.’

Borussia Dortmund reference Michael Jordan in Sancho announcement

Dortmund’s English language account might have been targeting the American audience in particular with this reference.

The club releaed a statement which referenced Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

‘For immediate release Contact: @Black Yellow DORTMUND, DE. (January 11, 2024)

‘The following statement was released today by Jadon Sancho, in response to questions about his future career plans: “I’m back.”’

Jordan famously made a similar announcement to confirm his return to the Bulls in the 1990s.

Sancho speaks after sealing Dortmund return

Here is Sancho himself as he reveals he is ‘glad to be back’ at Dortmund.

Wonder if he is more glad to have left Manchester United…

Full details on Sancho’s loan deal from Manchester United reporter Chris Wheeler.

United will receive a £3million loan fee plus up to £3.4m in bonuses based on the number of appearances Sancho makes and Dortmund’s qualification for the Champions League.

Dortmund will pay the majority of Sancho’s £290,000-a-week wages, although United have agreed to contribute £100,000 to get the winger off the books.

There is no option for the Bundesliga club to re-sign Sancho permanently in the summer having sold the 23-year-old top United in a £73million deal in 2021.

Sancho seals Dortmund return with a smile as sporting director Sebastian Kehl vows to help the winger regain ‘top form’

The official confirmation from Borussia Dortmund that Sancho has signed on loan until the end of the season.

Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has said:

Jadon is an absolute difference player and I’m looking forward to seeing him back in black and yellow soon. He knows this city, SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, our fans and our club. Even though he hasn’t played any competitive games in the past few months, we are sure that he will quickly settle back in with us, get into top form and use his qualities to help us achieve our goals for the season.’

Breaking: DONE DEAL: Jadon Sancho rejoins Borussia Dortmund on loan

Well, the Dortmund social media team have not opted to tease Jadon Sancho’s return…

How different things would have been for Liverpool in recent years without Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian has scored 204 goals in 332 games for the Reds since joining from Roma in 2017 for £34m.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has claimed Jurgen Klopp had wanted to sign another player ahead of Salah at the time.

Mail Sport’s Sami Mokbel has reported that Chelsea are preparing to spend big again this window having already spent close to £1billion since taking over the club.

He reports that the Blues are targeting a new striker and are also on the look out for a new left-back this month.

Chelsea have a strong interest in Napoli’s prolific striker Victor Osimhen, who has a £103million release clause.

Sources close to Osimhen have indicated to Mail Sport that the Nigeria striker is open to joining the Blues.

A deal is considered more likely in the summer.

Tottenham fans react to ‘era ending’ departure of Eric Dier

Eric Dier’s exit from Tottenham has been in the works for a while having fallen down the pecking order.

Spurs fans, however, have been highlighting Dier’s long contribution at the club.

Dier’s peak came during Mauricio Pochettino’s spell at the club, which he memorably got underway with a winning goal against West Ham on his debut.

Dier’s impending exit comes with Tottenham expected to complete the signing of Genoa’s Radu Dragusin.

The deal for Dragusin was in doubt on Tuesday night when Bayern tabled a late formal offer for the Romanian.

The Romanian defender has opted to join Spurs in a £25million deal with out of favour right back Djed Spence expected to head in the opposite direction.

Dragusin would be Tottenham’s second signing of the window after Timo Werner, who joined on loan from RB Leipzig earlier this week.

Dier seen in Munich arriving for Bayern medical

The man himself.

Sky Sports News have shared footage of Eric Dier’s arrival in Munich this morning.

It feels a remarkable move to Dier considering he has been out of favour at Tottenham this season under Ange Postecoglou.

Dier, provided the deal goes through, will be reuniting with former Tottenham and England team-mate Harry Kane.

Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel confirms imminent Eric Dier signing from Tottenham

Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel has just been quizzed at a pre-match press conference about Eric Dier’s potential arrival at the club.

Tuchel confirmed Dier is finalising a move and explained Bayern’s reasoning for the deal.

He’s a specialist at centre-back. He has also played as a number six in the Premier League, but not anymore for a long time. We’re getting him for the centre-back position, can play right or left centre-back as well as in back three. We got him mainly so Leon Goretzka can be free to play in midfield and doesn’t have to switch to centre-back anymore. Regarding other positions, we’ll see what will happen.

Jadon Sancho is not the only England international to be closing in on a move to Germany.

Mail Sport’s chief football reporter Sami Mokbel has reported that Tottenham defender Eric Dier has landed in Germany ahead of undergoing a medical at Bayern Munich.

He reports that Dier is expected to complete a move to the German champions in the next 24 hours.

Dier, who has six months remaining on his Tottenham contract, is expected to move for £2.5m.

Sancho reactivates Instagram account to tease Dortmund return

A very modern bit of transfer teasing from Sancho as well…

His Instagram account was deactivated in recent months, but has now returned and includes a profile photo of him playing for Borussia Dortmund.

Makes the job of the Dortmund social media team harder when trying to build the suspense for his announcement…

Let’s begin with Jadon Sancho then.

Manchester United and Bourssia Dortmund have been locked in talks in January over a loan deal for the winger.

A resolution appears to have been found with Sancho expected to undergo a medical before signing until the end of the season.

The deal will mark a temporary resolution to a lingering issue for Man United after Sancho publicly criticised manager Erik ten Hag in September.

Sancho, who signed for £73million from Dortmund in the summer of 2021, has been exiled from the first team squad since.

Good morning!
