Travis Kelce is catching heat from former NFL tight end and TV personality Shannon Sharpe for traveling to a Friday night World Series game in Texas before the Kansas City Chiefs got upset by the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Kelce has been living like a rockstar off the field all season, meeting up with Taylor Swift, appearing on Saturday Night Live and hosting a podcast with his brother Jason every week. It continued with his trip to Texas to see the Rangers take on the Diamondbacks in the World Series, where he was spotted dancing to Swift’s hit song “Shake it Off.”
That wasn’t even the first baseball game he went to this postseason, having previously attended a Philadelphia Phillies game with his brother, Jason.

So why was this such a big deal that “Unc” brought it up again Monday on ESPN First Take, after initially launching the criticism on his podcast Nightcap with Chad Ochocinco?
To put it simply, because they lost. It was the Chiefs first loss with Kelce in the lineup this year, and first to the Broncos in their last 17 tries. People don’t ask questions when you’re winning, but his off-field lifestyle choices stuck out more to Sharpe after the embarrassing 24-9 loss in Denver, which Taylor did not attend.

“It was in Texas. He lives in Kansas City,” Sharpe told Ochocinco on Nightcap. “It’s an awful look. It’s a terrible look.”
The former Broncos tight end claimed on First Take that this would be a huge deal if it was anybody else, citing the outcry against mid-season trips that Tony Romo and Odell Beckham Jr. famously took in the past.
Maybe he’s right, but if we’ve learned anything this year, it’s that Travis Kelce gets to play the game by different rules.
