When the Miami Dolphins face the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, their primary focus on defense is stopping the reigning NFL MVP, Patrick Mahomes.

Mahomes is known for his impressive career highlights, characterized by extended plays, throws from challenging arm angles, and no-look passes.

Hill’s advice on how to stop Mahomes

His ability to improvise and make plays on the fly poses a significant challenge to opposing defenses. Since becoming a starter in 2018, Mahomes leads all active players in passing yards, passing touchdowns, and quarterback rating when his time to throw exceeds 2.5 seconds.

One piece of advice from former Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill, who now plays for the Dolphins, is to keep an eye on Kelce when Mahomes starts scrambling during broken plays.

Kelce, the Chiefs’ tight end, is a reliable target for Mahomes in such situations. The Dolphins’ main priority will be to contain Mahomes and limit his ability to create plays outside of the playbook.

“What I’ve been telling the guys to do is just find Kelce,” he said.

“If you allow Kelce to get open, he’s like the energy of that team. Although Pat is all-world, if he finds Kelce and Kelce just catches a 2-yard pass, he somehow finds energy in that and gets that team going.

“They do a great job of it. And they did a great job of coaching it also whenever I was there. They got a whole PowerPoint on it and everything.”
