We are just one more sleep away from arguably the most important Heavyweight fight of the last 25 years, it’s Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk inside a ring. Winner takes the entire glory to be considered the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. During Thursday’s initial face-off, there was something off with Tyson Fury as he refused to look Oleksandr Usyk straight in his eyes. When asked why he didn’t face his opponent, Fury strangely said the Ukrainian champion has a scary face. That’s odd coming from arguably one of the most successful heavyweights on the planet. But there might be an explanation for this behavior that we are going to break down. But before we do, Friday’s face-off was very different.
Usyk’s intense training session sets the stage for epic showdown against Tyson Fury
About 24 hours before the fight, the final face-off and official weigh-ins took place ahead of the fight. Contrary to Thursday, Tyson Fury was fired up this time around and he even nearly got to a violent altercation against Usyk at the final face-off. Tyson is well aware of what’s at stake here and he probably was told by his camp that he needed to be far more aggressive than last time. When a reporter was asking him questions, Fury called out Oleksandr Usyk’s entire team and emotions were high. But now we need to address the massive elephant in the room.
Tyson Fury’s scar may be a problem
If you take a look at the close-up from different angles, you can clearly see Tyson Fury’s eyebrow injury still has some important scar tissue. Anybody who knows about combat sports will tell you that an injury that deep usualy takes more than a year to completely heal. In many cases, combat sports athletes tend to not have enough time to properly heal it. Tyson Fury should clearly be worried about this because he knows Olaksandr Usyk will start punching that area until the cut reopens one more time. A great example of this is UFC legend Nate Diaz, who kept openen back a nasty eyebrow scar that still hasn’t fully healed to this day. Every time he fights, blood starts flowing again. Tyson has the same issue and he knows it.
