Venezuela and Mexico are all set to go head-to-head in Copa America 2024 Group B action this Wednesday at SoFi Stadium.

It was a drastic turn of event for Venezuela last time out in their opening match of the tournament, as they found themselves down 1-0 despite having a numerical advantage over 10-man Ecuador last weekend. However, Venezuela managed to turn things around in the second half, winning 2-1 thanks to goals from Jhonder Cadiz and Eduard Bello.

El Tri also got off to a positive start in their opening Copa America contest as they managed to scrape a 1-0 victory over Jamaica. It wasn’t Julian Quinones or Santiago Gimenez who propelled Mexico to victory, but instead if was full-back Gerardo Arteaga who scored the lone goal in the game with a long-range stunner to play his part in the win.

Here’s 90min’s guide to Venezuela vs Mexico at Copa America 2024.

Venezuela will look to rely on Bello once more in their contest vs Mexico as the veteran wide player scored just his third goal his country in the comeback win over Ecuador. Cadiz will also look to continue his scoring ways after getting off the mark for Venezuela in his seventh appearance.

Venezuela predicted lineup vs Mexico ( 4-3-3 ): Romo; Gozalez, Ferraresi, Osorio, Navarro; Casseres Jr., Herrera, Martinez; Savarino, Cadiz, Soteldo.

Edson Alvarez suffered a hamstring injury vs Jamaica / Hector Vivas/GettyImages

Mexico head coach Jaime ‘Jimmy’ Lozano will be without star midfielder Edson Alvarez for the foreseeable future after the West Ham United figure sustained a hamstring injury in the first half vs Jamaica.

It’s a huge loss for El Tri, and it’s unknown whether Alvarez will be able to return to the mix before the tournament concludes in July.

Mexico predicted lineup vs Venezuela ( 4-2-3-1 ): Gonzalez; Sanchez, Montes, Vasquez, Arteaga; Romo, Chavez; Antuna, Pineda, Quinones; Gimenez.

As both teams started off with three points, the winner of this match will more than likely book their place in the quarter-finals of Copa America 2024.

With that in mind, Mexico will be more than determined to silence their critics ahead of their final group stage clash vs Ecuador with a narrow victory Wednesday night. Santiago Gimenez will come up clutch for El Tri, bagging a late goal to secure all three points.

Prediction: Venezuela 0-1 Mexico
