San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama became the first player in NBA history to score over 25 points, grab at least 10 rebounds and block two shots in less than 20 minutes of action, as reported by ESPN‘s Andrew Lopez.
Wembanyama, 20, scored 26 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 19 minutes to help lead the Spurs past the Charlotte Hornets in a blowout on Friday night to LaMelo Ball‘s return from a 20-game absence. He also racked up the most “LeBron stat” ever.

Wemby is the “first player with 25p-10r-2b in a game in which he played fewer than 20 mins since blocks became an official stat in 1973-74,” per Lopez.
A “LeBron stat” is difficult to explain, but fans know one when they see it, and this is just that. The term was recently made popular by brothers and NFL stars, Jason and Travis Kelce, who often use the phrase on their podcast.
Wembanyama went 9-for-14 from the field and hit two of his three deep attempts. Ball, meanwhile, scored 28 points, had five assists and five steals upon returning from a right ankle injury.
Spurs slowly getting better
San Antonio (7-30) defeating Charlotte (8-28) by a 135-99 score is proof that they are slowly getting better. Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich even sat his starters for most of the fourth quarter.
Wembanyama and company have now won two straight games for the second time this season, but had a franchise-worst 18-game losing streak early on in the year.
Doug McDermott, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell contributed to the victory with a respective 14, 13 and 12 points.
Spurs could make it a three-game win streak on Saturday night when they host the Chicago Bulls, whose fans are under fire for booing Jerry Krause‘s widow.
