On Thursday, Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller faced the media for the first time since turning himself in on assault accusations that have garnered significant attention.

The alleged incident, said to have occurred on November 29 during the team’s bye week in suburban Dallas, has put the Super Bowl winner in the spotlight.

According to police reports, Miller turned himself in a day after the alleged assault.

The report states that the victim, who has been in a relationship with Miller for 7 years and has children with the player, had been treated for minor injuries and bruising.

Miller supposedly twice put his hands on her neck, pulled on her hair and threw her onto a couch.

Von Miller denies girlfriend’s assault allegations

In a defiant tone, Miller addressed the accusations head-on, declaring them “100% false” and asserting that they have been “blown out of proportion.”

The linebacker, who turned himself in at the Glenn Heights, Texas, Police Department on November 30 and was later released on $5,000 bond, expressed frustration at the misinformation circulating.

“I and my girlfriend, we have problems just like any other couple does, but there has never been any of those things that was alleged against me,” Miller emphasized, shedding light on the challenges within his relationship.

Speaking about the situation, Miller acknowledged the severity of the accusations but firmly stated, “Everything that was out is completely wrong and blown out of proportion.”

He shared his optimism that over time, the truth would prevail, stating, “Hopefully over time, all of this stuff will get cleared up. Sometimes life just… be life-ing. You’ve just got to keep pushing and keep moving.”

The 34-year-old faces a third-degree felony assault charge on a pregnant woman, which carries a potential prison sentence of 2 to 10 years and a $10,000 fine.

Despite the legal implications, Miller remains resolute, stating, “It’s overblown. I’ve got the right people on the job. I know who I am. I know my character.”

Von Miller has the support of the Buffalo Bills

As the legal proceedings unfold, Miller’s status with the Buffalo Bills remains intact, as no charges have been filed against him.

The NFL is closely monitoring the situation, conducting its investigation parallel to legal developments.

General manager Brandon Beane emphasized the team’s commitment to allowing the legal process to play out, echoing the sentiment that “it’s an open investigation.”

Miller, in his second season with the Bills after signing a six-year $120 million contract in 2022, assured that he has been completely transparent with the team.

“I was 100% truthful with Brandon Beane, Coach McDermott, and the NFL, the investigators and [Bills co-owner] Mr. [Terry] Pegula. I was 100% transparent with everything that happened that day from start to finish,” he affirmed.
