San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama has had an impressive start to his NBA career, recently scoring a career-high 38 points in a game against the Phoenix Suns, where he faced his childhood idol, Kevin Durant.

This performance improved the Spurs’ record to 3-2 in the 2023-24 season and garnered attention from pundits, including Rachel Nichols.

Nichols raised a thought-provoking debate point on FS1’s Undisputed, suggesting that Wembanyama might have a higher ceiling than LeBron James.

“Victor Wembanyama’s ceiling is higher than David Robinson, Shaq and LeBron‘s,” said Nichols.

“He can render that LeBron-MJ argument.”

Impressive skillset

While LeBron is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in NBA history due to his basketball IQ and physical attributes, Wembanyama, standing at 7’4″, possesses a unique ability to block or contest jump shots, which sets him apart.

However, it’s important to note that Wembanyama is still only 19 years old, and predicting a higher ceiling than LeBron at this stage might be premature.

“He different,” Durant told HooperVision broadcast on the NBA App. “He long, athletic, he mobile, he can shoot it, he got skills. He tough.”
