The San Antonio Spurs (3-2) again defeated the Phoenix Suns (2-3) on Thursday night at Footprint Center for Victor Wembanyama to remain undefeated against Kevin Durant, one of his favorite NBA players.
Wembanyama, 19, scored a game-high 38 points, 20 points than what he racked up two days prior in a one-point win over Phoenix. This time, Devin Booker was back from injury, but even his presence wasn’t enough to overcome San Antonio.
Booker, 27, recorded a team-high 31 points for a triple-double, while Durant added 28 points to tie the game at 116 apiece in the fourth quarter after having trailed by 27 points.
Phoenix never led in the game as their fourth-quarter surge was dampened by Wembanyama’s dagger shot.
Five other Spurs players recorded double-digits in scoring, including Zach Collins (19), Devin Vassell (17), Jeremy Sochan (14), Cedi Osman (13) and Tre Jones (12).

Wemby added 10 boards and a pair of assists, blocks and steals, becoming the only other teenager besides Durant and LeBron James to record 35+ points, 10+ rebounds and at least two rejections in one game.
The first overall draft pick has totaled 103 points in his first five career games, a historic start to an NBA career.
David Robinson is the only other rookie in Spurs history to score at least 100 points in a five-game span.
Spurs host the Toronto Raptors on Sunday and Suns visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
