Women’s World Cup fixtures today – your guide to Sunday’s matchday ten games

It feels like the 2023 Women’s World Cup has only just started but already the group stages are winding to a close. Some nations’ fates are sealed, though there is plenty more still to be decided.

Sunday 30 July promises to be another exciting day of tournament football with New Zealand and Germany in action, while both South Korea and Morocco are hoping to keep their World Cup dreams alive.

There are four games in total, allowing fans to get their teeth stuck into a number of interesting match-ups with some favourable kick-off times for European supporters.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of Sunday’s Women’s World Cup action.

Having been beaten 6-0 by Germany in their opening group stage game, Morocco will be hoping for less of a thumping this time round.

South Korea, who also lost 2-0 to Colombia, are 55 places above the African nation in the FIFA rankings and need to get their World Cup back on track. With Colombia facing Germany, South Korea know a victory would keep their destiny in their own hands heading into the final match of Group H.

Morocco can’t be too disheartened by their chastening defeat to Euro 2022 finalists Germany, given it was their first ever appearance at a World Cup, and they did show glimmers of attacking potential against the worldwide heavyweights. Ghizlane Chebbak will be key to proceedings if the Lionesses of Atlas are to get a surprising result from the match.

However, South Korea will be strong favourites for the three points, with defeat for Morocco making qualification near impossible.

Having pulled off one of the shocks of the tournament by beating co-hosts New Zealand 1-0 thanks to a strike from Sarina Bolden, the Philippines know they need to win to have hopes of making it out of a finely-poised Group A.

The 46th ranked side take on Norway, who have suffered a surprisingly slow start to the tournament, only managing a point against Switzerland and suffering defeat to New Zealand in the competition opener.

Hege Riise, who was very briefly in charge of England, will need to raise standards if Norway have any hope of putting two poor results behind them, but they may need help from elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Philippines will be praying for another upset.

You wouldn’t know that Switzerland were playing in only their second ever World Cup, such has been their confidence at the tournament so far. Having beaten the Philippines and drawn with Norway, they have put themselves in a great position to qualify for the knockout stages.

New Zealand, however, stand in their way. Having gotten off to a brilliant start by beating Norway 1-0, a defeat to the Philippines by the same scoreline means their qualification is now in jeopardy.

A victory over the European side would secure their place in the next round and Jitka Klimkova will want her side can raise their game in Dunedin on Sunday.

Neither sides will know what is going on in the other group game between Norway and the Philippines, so the home fans may have to keep them updated on what’s happening over in Auckland.

Moving back to Group H, there is a really exciting clash between Germany and Colombia.

Fresh from their 6-0 demolition of Morocco, the Germans will be excited at the prospect of all but securing qualification for the knockout stages. The second highest ranked side in the world, Colombia will have to pull off a mighty shock to steal top spot in the group.

Alexandra Popp netted twice against Morocco and the Wolfsburg forward will be desperate to add to her tally in the hunt for the Golden Boot.

Colombia got a good 2-0 win against South Korea in their opening match, but this will prove a totally different and significantly more difficult proposition.
