In a turn of events during Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins, Zach Wilson‘s early exit due to a head injury has now been revealed to be the result of an undisclosed struggle with pain and impairment.

Despite being sacked four times in the first half, the New York Jets quarterback attempted to endure the challenges on the field, keeping his discomfort hidden from the coaching staff and medical team.

Wilson’s mother reveals the truth

The quarterback’s mother, Lisa, disclosed this information through an Instagram story on Monday, shedding light on the fact that Wilson refrained from notifying the team about the severity of his condition until issues with blurred vision and depth perception became too alarming to ignore.

“Yesterday was a little bit rough, Zach took some really, really big hits and he fought through it and really tried to just stay out on the field,” Lisa Wilson said.

“He didn’t want to go out, he didn’t want to stop playing – so he didn’t tell the sideline, the coaches, the trainers how he was really feeling and tried to just fight through it and be out there for his guys.

“Finally, after one more blow to the head, he really started having problems with blurred vision and his depth perception.

“He really started worrying that he was actually going to hurt his team if he stayed out there because his vision was not right and how you can’t play like that.”

Wilson‘s early departure from the game just before halftime showcased the toll the relentless attacks had taken on him during the match against Miami.

Despite a challenging season, the young quarterback had been on an upswing, earning the title of AFC Offensive Player of the Week following an impressive performance against the Texans.
