In July, it was reported that Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco was under investigation by the office of the attorney general in the Dominican Republic for an alleged relationship with a 17-year-old.

The 17-year-old submitted the complaint on July 17, which was a day after a 14-year-old shared several posts on X (Twitter) claiming she had a relationship with him.

Now, the baseball player finds himself in further trouble as another underage girl, 17, has come forward claiming that she too had a relationship with Franco.

The initial claim on July 17 led to his team releasing a statement that he would be suspended until further investigation.

“During today’s game, we were made aware of the social media posts that are circulating regarding Wander Franco,” the Rays said in a statement. “We take the situation seriously and are in close contact with Major League Baseball as it conducts its due diligence.”

Major League Baseball is also said to be investigating the social media posts from the July claims of the 14-year-old, according to Associated Press.

The league has yet to officially make a statement regarding the situation as new details emerge.

The latest claim

So far, regarding this latest claim by the underage girl, no statement has been made by either his team or MLB.

The age of consent in the Dominican Republic is 18 and therefore, should these claims be proven true, Franco could be charged criminally.
