David Carmo is a Portuguese professional football player. He plays as a center-back for the Primeira Liga club, FC Porto. A youth product of Braga, he started his senior football career in 2018 with the club’s second team. He was promoted to the club’s first team in 2020 and won Taca de Portugal with the club in 2021. • David Carmo started playing football career at an early age. After playing for several club academies of Beira-Mar, Casa do Benfica Estarreja, Benfica, Anadia, and Sanjoanense, he joined the youth academy of Braga in 2015. He was 16 at the time. He progressed through the youth ranks of Braga. 
• He made his senior debut in the LigaPro with the club’s reserves in August 2018. He made his professional debut against Estoril. He made 27 appearances in the 2018-19 season resulting in the club’s relegation. He received his first call-up to the first team in May 2019. He remained an unused substitute against Portimonense in his first call-up. 
• He made his Primeira Liga debut against Porto on 19 January 2020. He conceded a penalty in his debut match. He was sent off for the first time for a foul on Marcus Edwards on 25 October 2020 in a local derby at Vitoria de Guimaraes. Following a melee, Carmo and teammate Fransergio were suspended for three games and Jorge Fernandes from the opponent team was suspended for two games. 
• Carmo signed a new contract with the club in November 2020. Carmo suffered a serious injury in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Taca de Portugal in February 2021 where he broke his leg following a collision with Luis Diaz. After a VAR review, Diaz was sent off. He was part of Braga that won the Taca de Portugal 2020-21. 
• He returned to action after a year against Tondela. He scored his first goal for the club against Rangers in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League in April 2022. For his performance throughout the month, he was named Primeira Liga Defender of the Month for the month of April. He received interest from FC Porto at the end of the 2021-22 season. He eventually signed a five-year contract with the club for a transfer fee of €20 million plus €2.5 million in add-ons in July 2022. 

• He has represented the Portugal football team at different age levels. He previously represented Portugal’s U19 and U20 teams in 2019 and 2018. He has yet to make his senior international debut for the Portugal senior national team.
