It has been more than 10 years since a family in Chile captured an alleged ‘UFO’ on film while they were picnicking, and experts say they are “getting closer” to the truth in 2023.

The latest revelation has led UFO enthusiasts to believe certain occurrences are beyond humans’ comprehension, but that doesn’t necessarily suggest the humongous object that flew over Chile was controlled by aliens.

‘UFO’ seen in Chile in 2010 was more than ‘200 feet long’

A mother, father, and their one-year-old daughter were on an outing at the El Yeso Reservoir on February 14, 2010, when they allegedly witnessed an unexplainable aerial phenomenon.

The picture captured by the witnesses and now shown in the Daily Mail depicts an unidentified object over 200 feet long illuminating orange light from behind the clouds. The sighting supposedly took place in the Andes Mountains.

The photos taken in daylight are believed to be authentic and were subject to further investigation undertaken by The National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena (NARCAP).

An expert in physics at the University of Albany reportedly thinks the object is a “genuine UFO” because it is “truly unidentified.”

Experts suggest they are ‘getting closer’ to the truth

The case revolving the UAP from 2010 is being revisited for a documentary, and experts believe the investigation may help them unravel the truth behind the sighting.

Although the original investigation came to a standstill, the lengthy analysis of the object in the photograph resulted in the head of NARCAP establishing that it was in fact an “external anomaly.”

“It does not appear to be inserted in the photograph, so we’re left with an unidentified aerial phenomenon,” Ted Roe said at the time.

The re-opened case has gathered a similar response from experts in the present day. They believe the supposed sighting in Chile could help them inch closer to more knowledge on extraterrestrial lives.

Tony Harris, the host of the non-fiction series, The Proof is Out There, shared: “I think in a lot of these cases can be explained, but the beauty of the show is that by doing the work, we are weeding out the nonsense.”

“We are getting closer. Through the process of taking a look at things like the Andes UAP, having the experts take a look at it and coming to the conclusion that they cannot identify it [is a] ding ding ding [moment],” he added.

The report doesn’t confirm aliens

Even though experts believe the UAP sighting in Chile is likely real, they don’t confirm extraterrestrial lives or aliens had anything to do with it.

Meteorologist Juan Hernandez said: “Although I am not a photography expert, it does not seem like we are looking at a camera artifact effect. The likely explanation towards a reddish hue in any cloud would be a setting sun, but it is the middle of the day.”

“I agree with the conclusion of the NARCAP report, which suggested that this object is truly unidentified, so it is a genuine UFO,” he added. But, Tony told the outlet that it does not mean the investigations confirm the presence of aliens in the UFO.

“It means just what it says ‘undefined’,” he noted.
