Telegram is the largest social media platform that provides security features compared to its competitors. Recently, Telegram launched its premium service called Telegram Premium. All the messages and files in Telegram are end-to-end encrypted. Sometimes, users wish to create a new account or intend to close the account permanently for various reasons. You can either use the Telegram app or the official Telegram deactivation web page to delete the account permanently.
How to Delete Telegram Account using Android Smartphone
[1] Launch the Telegram app on your Android device and tap the Hamburger icon at the top-left corner.
[2] Tap the option Settings.
[3] On the Settings page, choose the Privacy and Security option.
[4] Scroll down to the bottom of the page and navigate to the option If Away for.
[5] Select the option If Away for and choose a time period from the options 1,3,6, or 1 year.
[6] Now, If your account is inactive for the time period you have chosen, the account will be permanently deleted after the specified time period.
How to Delete Telegram Account using iPhone/iPad
[1] Open the Telegram app on your iOS device and head over to Settings.
[2] Select the option Privacy and Security.
[3] Locate and click the option If Away for.
[4] On the pop-up menu, select a time period from the options 1,3,6, or 1 year.
[5] Now, your Telegram account will be deleted if it is inactive for the time period you have selected in the previous step. For instance: If you have selected the option 1 month, your Telegram account will be deleted automatically if your account is inactive for one month.
How to Permanently Delete a Telegram Account using PC
[1] Launch a Google Chrome browser on your Windows or Mac PC and make sure to update the Chrome browser to the latest version.
[2] Go to the Telegram Deactivation page.
[3] Enter the phone number of your account on the box and tap Next.
[4] You will now receive a verification code on the Telegram mobile app. Note down the code.
[5] Enter the code on the Confirmation box and tap Sign In.
[6] Then, click on the Delete Account option.
[7] Before you delete your account, write a valid reason for deleting your account in the box displayed below the option Why are you leaving?
[8] Finally, select the option Delete My Account.
[9] To confirm your account deletion, click the option Yes, delete my account.
[10] Now, your Telegram account will be deleted permanently.
