Chelsea will be looking to end a three-game losing streak against Arsenal this weekend when the two sides meet in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues have won three games on the trot as their season starts to take shape, but their clash with Arsenal marks the beginning of a tricky run of fixtures. Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Tottenham, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Brighton and Manchester United in five of their seven games after the visit of the Gunners, so they’ll want to get off to a strong start this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Arsenal know a victory will guarantee them top spot before the second London derby of the weekend between Tottenham and Fulham, with Mikel Arteta looking to build on a breakthrough victory over Manchester City before the international break. The Gunners have won their last three trips to Stamford Bridge and are unbeaten there since 2018.

Chelsea‘s vast injury list has shown no signs of easing up over the international period, with no fewer than 14 injury doubts for Saturday’s clash with Arsenal.

Christopher Nkunku, Wesley Fofana, Ben Chilwell and Romeo Lavia remain long-term absentees, while Benoit Badiashile, Marcus Bettinelli and Trevoh Chalobah also remain sidelined despite nearing returns.

Carney Chukwuemeka has suffered an injury setback after being named on the bench against Burnley and therefore could miss out, while Reece James‘ recovery has also been impacted by a minor complication.

The only piece of positive news for Mauricio Pochettino is that Malo Gusto will return from his three-game suspension against Arsenal and can take his place at right-back once again.

Another potential blow for Arsenal could be William Saliba who withdrew from the France squad with a toe injury he suffered against Man City. The centre-back would be a huge miss should he be sidelined, but there is still a decent chance he could feature against Chelsea.

Leandro Trossard is likely to be ruled out with a hamstring injury after coming off at half-time against Man City and not teaming up with Belgium. Jurrien Timber remains a long-term absentee.

Arsenal’s victory over Man City before the international break helped them exorcise some demons, handing them the confidence boost they need at the beginning of the hectic winter period. A trip to Stamford Bridge will be a tough test, but one that the Gunners have enjoyed in recent seasons.

Chelsea’s upturn in form certainly makes this a more interesting and hopefully less one-sided encounter, but injuries continue to make life difficult for Pochettino. The Argentine will be sweating on the fitness of a number of key players ahead of Arsenal’s visit, with defensive injuries having been particularly brutal for the Blues boss.

The positive news for Chelsea is that Saka and Saliba remain doubts for the Gunners, but Arteta’s side will arrive at Stamford Bridge as strong favourites for this one regardless. It may be a tighter affair than some would have predicted a few weeks ago, but Arsenal should have enough in the tank to end their rivals’ winning streak.
