Baltimore Ravens fullback Patrick Ricard scored a four-yard touchdown during the team’s Week 17 beatdown of the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium and went viral a day later for making quarterback Lamar Jackson look bad with his comments.
Ricard, 29, clearly did not mean to slight Jackson, whose MVP bid has largely been due to carrying Baltimore without tight end Mark Andrews, who might return from injury in the playoffs. The fullback’s comments were published Sunday night by Kyle Goon of The Baltimore Banner.

“We don’t want to be just one guy out there making all the plays,” Ricard said. “For Lamar, it gives him more options. He doesn’t have to be Superman out there. I’m just proud of all the guys that week after week just keep making plays. Just ignore the noise and stay locked in.”
Jackson, 26, threw for five touchdown passes during the 56-19 blowout that clinched the Ravens a first-round postseason bye with the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Despite his teammate’s comments, Jackson has the MVP award in the bag, making him a two-time Most Valuable Player, but he wants the Super Bowl.
Ravens just beat up both the Dolphins and San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs have not looked the same this season and the Philadelphia Eagles are on decline. This is Baltimore’s year.
The other skill players on the Ravens that rarely receive praise, such as Gus Edwards, Isaiah Likely, Odell Beckham Jr. and Justice Hill will need to be at their best to reach the Super Bowl. Jackson is no Superman.
