Lionel Messi’s MLS arrival might not be as glorified and positive as people would expect. The very first demonstration of rivalry due to Messi’s arrival is the Vice City 1896 mural that was recetly painted in Leo’s honor. It was a beautiful wall with a Messi image wearing his Inter Miami kit, it appears to have been vandalized by a rival fan base. There are two close fan bases that could be the guilty party of this crime. In the USL championship, there is the Miami FC club that essentially plays the second tier soccer category. The other team close by is Orlando City FC, which na MLS rival from the same state. Both are relatively new teams and they have developed an important rivalry between ultras.

Any of the top footballers will tell you that having rival fans jeering them can sometimes be beneficial for their game. Messi is that type of player, he never says that he likes getting booed but he does seem to enjoy it. Messi also gets occassionally fired up but we haven’t had an incident after that thus far. The furthest he got was during the last World Cup against The Netherlands or during the Copa America in Chile. If the fans want to get to him, they will have There will be many of Inter Miami ultras who don’t react well to this transgression. We urge all involved to maintain calm and not get in trouble with the local authorities. The last thing we want in Miami is for ultras getting in trouble as they do in Argentina.

The ideal move here from both fan basis is to keep the competition inside the pitch while they cheer their team or jeer their opponent. Known as Vice City 1896, this is the supporter group that painted the mural and later reported it was vandalized. Orlando City fans have been confirmed to have made this mistake, we hope the incident doesn’t escalate. You can always try to either fix the mural or paint a brand new one with the same level of creativity from the first attempt.
