A woman has been rushed to hospital with “significant injuries” after being stabbed in Bradford City Centre.

West Yorkshire Police were called at 3.21pm to reports of a woman being stabbed on Westgate, near to the unction with Drewton Road. They arrived on the scene and the woman was then taken to hospital with “significant injuries”.

A scene was put in place with road closures on Drewton Road, Westgate between Drewton Road and Lumb Lane and Wigan Street. Members of the public are being urged to avoid the area if possible.

The police said: “Police were called to Westgate at the junction with Drewton Road at 3:21pm today to reports that a woman had been stabbed. She was taken to hospital with significant injuries.

“A scene is in place, which includes road closures on Drewton Road, Westgate (between Drewton Road and Lumb Lane) and Wigan Street, and members of the public are urged to avoid the area if possible at this time.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing and local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.”
